Sagittaria sagittifolia, commonly known as Chinese arrowhead, duck potato, or white water chestnut, is a plant in the Alismataceae family, belonging to the genus Sagittaria. The tubers of this plant are edible. It is native to central and southern China and is distributed in temperate wetlands across Europe, Asia, Oceania, and in places like Altay, Xinjiang, China. It typically grows at elevations of up to 600 meters (2,000 feet) and is commonly found in still waters of ponds, marshes, lakesides, and slow-moving streams.
