Coriander (scientific name: Coriandrum sativum), also known as cilantro, Chinese parsley, or simply coriander, is referred to as "yan sui" in some regions to avoid superstitions associated with its name. In Guangdong and other areas, it is also called "yan qian." Coriander is an annual herbaceous plant.
