It is distributed across Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa. In Chinese cuisine, it is a common vegetable, while in Italian cuisine, it is often used as a flavoring ingredient. The edible part of celery is primarily the leaf stalks; although the leaves can also be consumed, they have a slightly bitter taste and are not the main edible part.
