Asparagus (scientific name: Asparagus officinalis), also known as stone asparagus, is a perennial flowering herbaceous plant in the Asparagaceae family and belongs to the genus Asparagus. Like its relatives garlic, onion, and chives, it was once classified under the lily family (Liliaceae).
